Vernian

Vernian is a domain of grasslands and forest nestled south of Hazlan and Nova Vaasa best known for the magical storms that scorch the landscape in occasional fits of cataclysmic violence. It is a place that has survived its own apocalypse already, wrought at the hands of those whom grossly abused magic until it broke. The use of magic left the civilization that once was in tatters, and what was once a high medieval society was largely sent back to competing tribes - though they did, eventually, galvanize into a handful of city-states that form now what is called the Confederacy of Vernian. It's a tenuous peace with most of the disparate groups holding that the cataclysm is the fault of the others, but it holds with growing external threats, especially the fascination of the Red Academy of Hazlan in their magical storms - and the many dangers they create pursuing it.
