Cuzau is a town in Barovia, near Hoessla.[3]

Nestled at the foot of the northern part of the mountain range best known by its tallest peak, Cuzau is a mining town, and rich for it. It exports prodigious amounts of gold and silver, as well as some steel, and also houses the Barovian Mint.

Uselix and Cuzau are known to have both close kinship and something of a friendly rivalry - Uselix depends upon Cuzau for the large amounts of steel and other metals their craftsman need, but they often go back and forth about which of the two is more important for Barovia.

Owing to the Mint, Cuzau is the only place smaller than a city that has both a municipal Watch, and a Garda. Above even this, a detachment of soldiers from the Order of the Ebon Gargoyle are the security for the Mint. None but the Burgomaster and their retinue may enter or leave without permission from the Count, and the staff for the place live within its walled premises.[2.9] Due to this, Cuzau is often said to be the safest town in Barovia, second only to those few that reside with the Count in Castle Ravenloft.
