A vital stop for trade traveling between Kantora and destinations west, Bergovitsa is perhaps one of the most worldly and culturally diverse cities in Nova Vaasa. Yet the hotly disputed control over the city by the Rivtoff family & Vistin family also renders Bergovitsa one of the land's most lawless cities, as roving bands of ruffians in the employ of either family are known to bully and strong-arm civilian targets deemed disloyal to one side or the other. The Avener's District, a hub for horse racing, is a particular nexus for crime. In addition, urban legend posits that it is menaced by the Mudman of Bergovitsa.[1][1.8]
