Mortigny is a small city located within southern Richemulot. As with the cities of Richemulot, it is a nexus for trade, but its crafts are also noteworthy. The influence and encouragement of the nobility upon the world of performance is particularly notable, though the reason for this encouragement lies in a constant game for status and power even more intricate and obscure than that of Pont-a-Museau. Fortunately, Mortigny's separation from Jacqueline Renier's sphere of power usually eliminates the fatal nature of such contests for prestige.[1]
