Kislova

Kislova is an Island of Terror, currently governed by Baron Peto Casse, but it is something of an open secret that the hand behind the throne is Baroness Ilsabet Obour.

Background

Originally a relatively peaceful mercantile trade island, ruled quietly by Baron Janosk Obur. However, when the mother of the ruler died of a wasting illness, the confederation Obur ruled fell apart, with the northern city-states of Deneri and Kapen pulling out of it. This was their right by the confederations agreements, but then they laid claim to the gold-rich city-state of Tygelt. Forced into conflict, the island was pushed into a bloody civil war. This ended when Peto Casse - baron of a neigbouring city-state Sundell, helped southern Kislova overcome the rebels.

What became of Sundell is debated among historians as accounts vary: some say that the sea swallowed up the city-state in a tsunami, some that it was lost in the earthquake of the Grand Conjunction, others still claim a great seabeast assailed the town and left it a submerged ruin. Regardless, all uncontested record of it begins and ends with it being the origin of now-Baron Peto Casse.
