Cradled in the western part of the Svalich Pass on the shores of Lake Zarovich, Vallaki is a small town located within Barovia.[2.3]
Although heavily dependent on fishing from the lake, Vallaki's position marks it as an important thoroughfare for travelers and traders moving about the southern Core. It is in essence a thriving commuter and trade town. The economy is booming; Vallaki has orchards, distilleries, blacksmiths, and fish markets. Yet the bustling noise is said to mask the presence of dread secrets of arcane and magical nature.[2.4]
