Souragne is a domain based around stereotypical Louisiana voodoo, and as such consists primarily of a vast swamp. The two most important individuals in Souragne are the darklord Anton Misroi, a zombie lord, and Chicken Bone, the most powerful voodan (Ravenloft's equivalent of a houngan) in the swamp.
Souragne's place of origin is from a formerly jungle and swamp area along the Thunder River, an area surrounding Sasserine in the world of Oerth. The jungle and swamp had been cleared for use as sprawling, privately owned plantations. Providing food crops and exports for the city of Sasserine. The Thunder River river's seasonal flooding made the land particularly rich, although those who farmed it constantly had to battle reincroaching jungle vegetation and beasts. Cassava, coffee, cotton, millet, rice, sugarcane, and tea - as well as some more traditional farm crops- made up Sasserine's plantations most abundant products. (Dragon Magazine, issue #349)
